Little Sprouts Spring 2017

Join the Poughkeepsie Farm Project as we explore the outdoors this spring! Sign up for a five-week session with your little one (ages 3-5) and learn about plants, insects, and water through outdoor exploration on the farm and in the woods.
Each session is one hour long. A parent or other caregiver must accompany the child. Pre-registration is required, class size is limited.

Who: 3-5 year old with adult (see FAQ on registration page)
Dates & Times

5 Tuesdays starting May 16, 3:30-4:30pm *or*
5 Saturdays starting May 20 and ending June 24 (no session Memorial Day weekend), 10-11am
Fee: Members: $75, Non-Members: $90

Junior chefs summer 2017

Do you have a budding young chef in the family?  Junior Chefs Cooking Club is for youth who want to explore the world of culinary arts!
Together with Chef Katie Key, Junior Chefs will be led through a 5 week program that will get them thinking like a chef each time they step into the kitchen! Pre-registration is required.

Who: Ages 7-12, limit 12 participants
Dates & Times: 5 Tuesdays starting July 11th, 4-5:30
Fee: Members: $85, Non-Members: $100

 

Literacy in the Garden

Help the Boardman Road Branch Library plant their 2017 garden! Garden educators from Poughkeepsie Farm Project will lead families in planting vegetables in the raised-bed garden.  Learn about plant and human health through planting activities and read alouds. Please dress for the mess and weather. Meet in the Lobby at 2:50 pm and head out to the garden at 3 pm. For families with children Pre-K and up. Registration required.

Summer Institute: Using Gardens to Teach

Poughkeepsie Farm Project's annual summer institute is designed to help educators integrate gardens into their teaching. We cover topics in literacy, social studies, science, and nutrition, as well as build knowledge about sustainable agriculture, food systems, social justice, and ecological gardening practices. Join us for three days of hands-on learning! This 21-hour program is CTLE approved.

Swing Into Spring

Suit up and join us as we Swing into Spring! Don't miss The Big Band Sound and your chance to swing dance for a good cause. This dance is open to the public. We ask that you pay what you can with a suggestion donation of $5-$10. 

The dance is being held in the newly renovated Vassar Farm Barn. There will be a swing dance lesson for beginners, given by instructors from PoTown Swing, starting at 7 p.m. and the dance will be from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Open Farm & Spring plant sale

We invite our community to join us for two days of festivities! Join us on a tour of the farm, meet the staff and board of directors, learn about our programs and activities, take a spin on our bicycle-powered polenta grinder, explore our meditation and discovery gardens, and stop by the smoothie station. There will be fun activities for the whole family. We will be selling nearly 100 varieties of vegetables, flowers and herbs raised in our greenhouse, as well as garden seeds produced at PFP and beautiful PFP merchandise.

Soup A Bowl

Every Fall, PFP and friends celebrate food and art in Poughkeepsie at the Alumnae House at Vassar College.  Proceeds benefit the charitable and educational programs of the PFP.  Soups, pottery, raffle and silent auction, and live music from the Roundabout Ramblers and lots more. Community Potluck

Join us for our end of the season potluck. Come see what we are about and meet people in the community. Don't forget to use your PFP produce to make your dish!
